Empty Room
A space is a domain where matter can exist and events can unfold. For centuries, grasping the true nature of space has remained a fundamental inquiry for both philosophers and scientists.
However, the empty spaces I manifest on the canvas operate as vessels that hold the intricate workings of the human psyche—containers of profound emotion and thought. This space, which serves as the backdrop for the dolls in my LIKE Series, reveals the psychological state and distinct character of its occupant, even when left uninhabited.
What does a space devoid of human presence evoke?
At times, an empty space may project a sense of desolation. Yet, when I gaze into an empty room, I am met with a quiet, soothing comfort. Within the room I have created, I exist entirely online—completely, silently, and fully present within its boundaries. Free from the gaze of the outside world, it is a sanctuary where one can fully encounter the self.

빈 방 (Empty Room)
공간이란 물질이나 사건이 존재하고 일어날 수 있는 장소입니다. 공간의 본질을 이해하려는 시도는 오랫동안 철학자들과 과학자들에게 핵심적인 질문이었습니다.
그러나 제가 캔버스 위에 구현하는 빈 공간은 인간 마음의 작용을 담아내는 그릇이자, 감정과 사유를 품는 컨테이너에 가깝습니다. <LIKE 시리즈>에서 마주했던 인형들이 머무는 이 공간은, 비록 지금은 아무도 살고 있지 않은 방일지라도 그곳을 거쳐 간 혹은 그곳을 점유했던 존재의 심리 상태와 캐릭터를 투영하여 보여줍니다.
사람이 존재하지 않는 공간은 과연 어떤 느낌을 줄까요?
때로 텅 빈 공간은 황량하고 쓸쓸하게 다가오기도 합니다. 하지만 저는 이 비어 있는 인형의 방을 바라볼 때, 오히려 고요한 위로와 편안함을 느낍니다. 내가 창조해 낸 방 안에서, 나는 타인의 시선으로부터 벗어나 오롯이 혼자가 됩니다. 그리고 그 안에서 온전하게, 침묵 속에, 나만의 존재감을 가득 채우며 완벽히 현존하게 됩니다.
